SVG Is Resolution Independent, PNG Is Not
An SVG describes paths, text, and shapes. A PNG stores a fixed grid of pixels. The moment you export SVG to PNG, you choose the resolution that controls how much detail survives at the final display size.
For a logo shown at 300 pixels wide, export at least 600 pixels wide for a 2× display. For social graphics, export at the platform's actual recommended dimensions rather than stretching a tiny PNG afterwards.
Fix Blurry Text Before Export
Text becomes soft when the export is too small, when a thin stroke lands between pixels, or when the intended font is unavailable in the export environment. Convert critical text to outlines in the original design file when exact typography matters.
Avoid scaling a raster PNG up after export. If the final target changes from 512 to 2048 pixels, return to the SVG and rasterize again at the larger size.
For favicons and tiny icons, simplify the original SVG. Fine internal details that look excellent at 512px can collapse at 16px.
A Reliable Export Checklist
Confirm the artboard dimensions, use a transparent background only when the destination supports it, export at 1× or 2× the final display size, and inspect the output on both light and dark backgrounds.
If the image needs a strict file-size limit, export the correct dimensions first and then compress the PNG or create a JPG/WebP derivative only when transparency is no longer needed.
